THE MAN WHO CAUSED HUNDREDS OF WOMEN TO LIVE IN NIGHTMARE – LI BAOCHENG'S PROFILE

The line between good and evil is thin.

He was considered China's number one womanizer. In 10 years, he committed a frenzied 3800 crimes, leaving countless innocent women as victims. He even targeted elderly women as young as 65.

At his peak, he assaulted five women in a single night, even attacking the same victim three consecutive days. He was known as China's number one pervert. Li Baocheng was absolutely the most reckless and insane of all womanizers.

His primary occupation was rape, with theft as a secondary activity, and he single-handedly remained hidden for a full 10 years. So, how deep was Li Baocheng's hatred for women, and what was his ultimate fate? Li Baocheng was an ordinary man from the suburbs of Beijing, short and stocky, less than 1.6 meters tall. However, he was a veterinarian with a stable monthly income, enough to live comfortably. Therefore, many matchmakers sought him out.

Not long after, he married a woman from his hometown in Hebei. Their married life was initially quite peaceful. But as time passed, his wife gradually realized that Li Baocheng was not only lazy but also full of bad habits.

Tolerating it once or twice was bearable, but it became unbearable. So his wife began to deliberately avoid him, even sleeping in a separate bed. Meanwhile, Li Baocheng, in the prime of his life, couldn't stand the loneliness and repression.

At that moment, dirty thoughts arose in his mind, though they hadn't yet turned into action. Up until 1972, Li Baocheng used marital discord as an excuse to argue fiercely with his wife, even angrily leaving home.

His wife's coldness only fueled Li Baocheng's anger. He thought to himself, "Fine, if you won't let me touch you, I'll touch someone else." No one could have imagined that this thought would lead him straight down a path of inescapable crime.

At that time, houses in rural China shared a common characteristic: most were detached houses with independent yards, and the distance between households was quite sparse. This was perhaps a favorable condition for him in his search for prey. One day, while wandering around the eighteen Lidian district on his way to work, he happened to pass by a house with its door open.

Through the open window, he saw a beautiful woman inside with only a baby still breastfeeding beside her. After observing for a while, Li Baocheng's saliva dripped down, wetting his collar. After watching for a long time, he confirmed that there was no man in the house and finally could not restrain himself.

Li Bao Cheng, like a wolf starving for months, finally found his prey. He stormed into the house and dragged the woman into the bedroom. Faced with the sudden appearance of the pervert, the woman didn't have time to cry out for help. He covered her mouth and nose, and in the darkness, coupled with extreme fear, she couldn't clearly see his face.

She only heard him coldly say, "Don't scream. If you scream again, I'll kill you and your child." Hearing this, the woman was so terrified that she stood still, letting the demon do whatever he wanted. Because it was his first time, his legs were still clumsy and hurried.

After satisfying his animalistic desires, he quickly grabbed his belongings and fled, even though he wasn't fully dressed. Although the place was more than 10 kilometers from his house, he ran home at breakneck speed without showing any signs of fatigue, arriving in about an hour. The reason he could run so fast was partly due to his daily work of running from village to village and the urgency of treating sick livestock. Over time, he became intimately familiar with the terrain, shortcuts, and small paths of each village, and also trained his legs to run strong and fast. It was precisely because of this advantage that he became more arrogant and reckless later on. As for the woman, after being assaulted, she did not immediately seek justice (perhaps because the old sayings were still deeply ingrained in her mind).

After many days of hesitation and fear, she timidly recounted the incident to her husband. Upon learning of the matter, her husband immediately reported it to the police. Although the case attracted the attention of the police, the victim was too panicked at the time to clearly see the perpetrator's face, even mistaking him for a tall, large man.

Due to a lack of clues, the case was gradually forgotten for a time. Seeing that he was still undetected and safe, Li Baocheng shifted his target to a village in Chaoyang County, this time focusing on a beautiful young woman.

In the dead of night, after confirming that the surroundings were safe, he stealthily crept into the house in the darkness and committed heinous acts against the girl. Throughout the process, the girl resisted, but his threats terrified her. To save her life, she submitted and allowed him to harm her.

After committing the crime, he no longer panicked and fled as before, but instead stole all the valuables in the house. It must be said that if these things had happened in the present day, he would likely have been caught. However, at the present time, there is no surveillance system, and investigative techniques are limited, allowing him to escape once again (this opened the door for the devil to run rampant).

The continuous satisfaction of his desires without being caught caused him to lose control of his thoughts and consciousness. The frequency of his crimes increased, and his methods became more varied and perverse. He made himself a black mask, leaving only his eyes visible to avoid his victims seeing his face clearly, and also to satisfy his perverted urge to look at his victims' faces while committing the crime. He adopted the nickname "Old Thug."

Before each crime, he coldly uttered the words, "I am the Old Thug," wanting to strike fear into the hearts of other women at the mention of this name. Li Baocheng used Songqiao Town, Chaoyang County, as the center of his criminal activities, expanding his operations to a radius of about 10km. The favorable terrain allowed him to easily commit crimes and avoid detection while tracking his victims, as he was familiar with the surrounding villages and therefore didn't attract attention.

At his peak, he could sexually assault up to five girls in a single day, even repeatedly assaulting the same victim over several days. As the number of victims increased and became more frequent, the matter could no longer be concealed, and the villagers gradually became wary.

Families with young daughters dared not let them go out, especially at night, keeping their doors tightly shut. At this point, he realized the situation was becoming serious, and the local police began searching everywhere. In 1974, the local police mobilized 300 militiamen to secretly ambush the surrounding villages and wait.

Because this was a top-secret operation, with no information to be leaked to outsiders, Li Baocheng acted as usual that night. He secretly broke into a house, intending to attack the girl inside. Terrified and wanting to save her life, the girl instinctively screamed for help.

This situation was all too familiar to him, so he wasn't worried. However, unexpectedly, militiamen were lying in ambush all around the village. The girl's screams caused nearby militiamen to rush towards the house from which the cries came.

Hearing the hurried footsteps, he knew he had fallen into a trap. In that situation, escaping was impossible; he feared the people outside might be armed. In a panic, he suddenly lunged towards the back door.

Escaping through the back door, he didn't run straight away but hid in a nearby pile of straw. When the militiamen stormed into the house, they immediately asked where the girl was. The girl pointed towards the back door and said he had run in that direction.

No one suspected that this mistaken direction would help him escape for 10 years. The militia thought he had run to the main road and chased him for 4-5 kilometers, but found no suspicious sign. Meanwhile, he remained hidden in the haystack until the next morning.

From then on, his reputation was further embellished with stories, some claiming he was part of a gang, forcing the police to send a special task force from higher authorities to conduct a thorough investigation.

However, when these rumors reached him, he was not afraid at all; on the contrary, they only spurred him on. One day, he sneaked into a house as usual and successfully carried out his deed. After finishing, he casually carried 30 kilograms of rice from the yard, slung it over his shoulder, and left.

The woman in the house, upon seeing him leave, immediately ran to report to the police. Unfortunately, by the time the police arrived, he had already left more than an hour earlier. Although they let him escape, the police estimated that carrying 30kg of rice would only allow him to travel about 3km on foot.

If they had centered the crime scene and searched within a 3km radius, they would have likely caught him. However, they underestimated him and didn't know his physical capabilities; he still made it home safely.

To date, he has committed over 100 crimes. He lives a carefree life, while the women he assaulted suffer severe physical and mental trauma. Yet, these consequences haven't made him change his ways; they still haven't satisfied him.

In the following days, he relentlessly sought out his prey, and what angered people most was that he didn't spare even a 65-year-old woman. Faced with this monster, the police decided to set up an ambush, identifying his usual crime-prone area and maintaining a long-term presence.

They patrolled the villages day and night, silently waiting for his appearance. Soon after, they noticed Li Baocheng acting suspiciously. Although they lacked concrete evidence, out of caution, the police called him back for questioning. Hearing the call, he realized his cover was blown and fled. Seeing this, the police chased him through the night. Logically, a police officer with military background should have caught up, but due to unfamiliarity with the terrain and the darkness,

Seeing the distance widening, the officer was about to draw his gun to intimidate him when he unexpectedly tripped over a rock, injuring his leg and preventing him from pursuing further. He escaped once again.

This time, the police deployed sniffer dogs to search the villages, using a scare tactic to make the culprit realize something was amiss and reveal himself. After a period of surveillance, the police finally waited for Li Baocheng to appear.

Hearing the commotion, the police didn't immediately chase after him but released the sniffer dogs first, thinking that no matter how fast they ran, they couldn't outrun a sniffer dog. But strangely, after about 10 minutes, the sniffer dogs returned with their ears drooping, as if they had just encountered someone very frightened. Even the dog trainer was surprised, because during training, they had never seen the dog behave like this. (Further explanation: From the beginning, Baocheng was a veterinarian, so his clothes and body often smelled of medicine, especially anesthetic. When the sniffer dogs smelled this, they instinctively thought of the injection, immediately panicked, and ran away.) Li Baocheng, after escaping, ran home with a terrified expression on his face.

That made him more cautious and he disappeared for a long time, during which time no more victims appeared in the villages.

However, no one expected that in 1976, the old thug would reappear. That winter, Li Baocheng officially became a gangster, thinking the people would soon forget him.

But what he didn't expect was that the police never gave up investigating and chasing him, only failing to find further clues. This time, after committing another crime, the villagers frantically pursued him but still couldn't catch him. However, this time he also revealed a weakness.

When he ran home, he discovered that because it was snowing that day, his footprints were clearly imprinted all the way to his house. Immediately afterward, Li Baocheng resorted to another trick, running around his house to create the illusion that he was hiding there.

He then followed those footprints straight to the train station. At the station, he took a long detour, confirmed it was safe, and returned home. In this way, he once again escaped punishment.

However, as the saying goes, justice may be late, but it is never absent. One day in 1982, after ten consecutive years of crime, he targeted a store to rob it. He pretended to be a customer, and while paying, he glanced at a cash box on the counter.

Seeing the money, his greed immediately surged. He loudly threatened the female employee, "I'm Lü Liu Manh! If you want to live, hand over all the money in the box!"

Hearing his name, the female employee immediately went limp, forced to comply with his demands and hand over all the money. However, at that moment, her hands trembled, causing the money to fall. Fearing that this would anger him, she quickly bent down to pick it up.

Unexpectedly, those few seconds landed Li Baocheng in prison, ending his long string of convictions spanning many years. After picking up the money, she gave it to him, and he swaggered out of the store with his loot.

However, he hadn't taken more than a few steps when a strong, young man appeared. They met face-to-face, and the store employee shouted from inside, "Catch the thief!"

The loud shout startled both of them. He immediately ran, but this time he had met his match; the young man he had just encountered was a former soldier.

They chased each other for a long distance. He was eventually exhausted, but seeing that the former soldier still wouldn't let him go, he decided to kill him to escape. He quickly picked up a brick and hid it behind his back. As soon as the former soldier caught up, he lunged back and attacked. With instincts honed in the military, the former soldier immediately counterattacked, tackled and subdued him, and escorted him to the nearby police station. At this time, the police at the station were unaware of his identity, thinking he was merely involved in a robbery case. They had temporarily detained him and were awaiting the store employee's statement.

Perhaps because they were preoccupied with investigating and searching for clues to the notorious thief, they hadn't noticed him and hadn't questioned him yet. However, his mental state completely collapsed. He thought his identity had been revealed and they were waiting to gather evidence.

To convince the police that he was just an ordinary thief, he proactively confessed to a robbery from two years prior. Unfortunately, he didn't know that the police had long possessed a complete record of the thief, and his seemingly clever confession was linked to the crime the thief had committed. From there, the police immediately investigated and pieced together the information, instantly identifying the suspect.

At this point, his psychological defenses completely collapsed, forcing him to confess to all 380 crimes he had committed over the past 10 years. The court then sentenced him to death based on charges such as rape, robbery, and illegal entry. This concluded the serial rape case (according to records, the rape attacks involved violent acts of coercion, forcing victims to do whatever Li Baocheng wanted; the weapons used were household items such as broom handles, knife handles, and various elongated fruits; most victims remained silent for fear of scandal at the time, so their information was kept secret by the police).
