Don't Force Me to Visit the Consumer Hubs

My time is precious

There is love, yes,

hut it does not mean

I will follow you blindly.

You have a job, you earn well.

I do not, so I upskill,

I do many side hustles,

It is relentless, uncertain,

the dollars come hard.

I persist because I have no other way,

you do not help me in

finding an earning way,

your video games are important.

All I have is my time,

but you want me to go

where you decide,

because “the kids will love it.”

It does not matter,

whether I like it or not,

whether it's worth my time or not,

This has been going on

for weekends after weekends,

aquarium, trampoline park,

Legoland, birthday parties,

all consumption activities.

Do you ask me

whether I can afford

to spend my weekend,

the only full day

when I get some decent

personal time to create,

to do justice,

to my earning efforts?

With your consumer brain,

you repeat the same places.

I find more solace

walking the dirt path,

sitting under the neighborhood sycamore,

watching a roadrunner.

If you don't understand,

and repeat the same mistake,

I have to speak for myself.

Note: This poem is aimed at my spouse. We share life, house, and kid together, but our philosophies are different. And his choices often make me angry.
