Jackfruit Seeds

Taste like chestnuts

We all know chestnuts,

very popular.

I have eaten packaged roasted ones

from the market, found it bland.

I bought some fresh,

they were not easy to prepare,

I boiled, removed shells,

poured maple syrup, milk

made a porridge dessert.

The family did not like,

as I ate, it reminded me

of jackfruit seeds,

and nostalgia hit.

Jackfruit is a tropical fruit,

huge, eaten cooked or ripe.

The ovoid seeds

can be eaten skillet roasted,

clay pan fried, or boiled.

I love them in every form.

When I get the chance,

I buy jackfruit chunks,

just for the seeds.

Truth be told, to me,

they are tastier than chestnuts.

The world knows the latter,

but jackfruit seeds, not many.

Now that you know,

try when you can.

I have never heard of Jackfruit or the seeds. I will pay attention to see what I can see.πŸ˜‰πŸ’—

  • I’ve heard of both, but never tried either… not common in Australia.
