The Shaking of the Leaves

the shaking of the leaves is like

shekere

and the branches...a sanctuary...extending from the trunk

the roots

dig deep

and listen to

the vibrations emanating from the

life around them

the tree is life, the tree is rhythm

and the bustling of the leaves is like the

shekere

'roots'

deep like life

roots transcending life

roots, not ending

go deep

but all you see is the tree

kinda' like you and me

we forget to see what made us

we forget to see who made us

we forget the roots

but we revere the tree

and sometimes we forget the leaves which are extensions

as we extend

the roots and the branches are its strength and

the leaves...a celebration of life

let us not forget

let us not forget

let us not forget
