The Living Hour

What marvel is this beating within my body!

What rapture pulses through these mortal limbs,

this flesh that walks, that speaks, that loves, that knows

it lives, how glorious, how strange, how brief!

Each moment brings its treasure. Do you see it?

Do you feel it?

This wild current running through us all, this fever we call being human!

──⊱❉⊰ ──

I wake to find myself alive again,

Another chance! Another brilliant hour!

To think, to feel, to move across this earth,

to meet your eyes and know we both exist!

──⊱❉⊰ ──

What symphony plays within my bones!

What fire runs along my every thought!

I am electric with this gift, this grace,

this temporary glory of awareness!

──⊱❉⊰ ──

Friends! Strangers passing by!

Do you know what miracle we share?

That we can speak, can laugh, can weep together,

that we can touch and be touched, can know and be known!

How did we earn such privilege?

We who are both made of clay and stardust,

we who must die yet get to live first,

what cosmic generosity allows us even one sunrise?

──⊱❉⊰ ──

Come, let’s celebrate while we have voices!

Let us sing out our existence like mad poets!

Let us be fools for life, drunk on reality,

Grateful beyond all reason for this chance to be!

──⊱❉⊰ ──

For we are here! We are awake! We are alive!

And that alone, that single fact,

should make us fall upon our knees with wonder,

should make us rise and dance with wild thanksgiving!

Stunning work Tim, really beautiful poem. The kind of thing that can turn a day around, in a good way :) I don’t think I knew you had a book published— awesome! where is it sold? I already blew my book budget for the next few months but I’d like to add you to my list
