Punjab Kings Donates ₹33.8 Lakh to Aid Flood-Affected Communities
Punjab is currently facing one of the most severe floods in decades, causing widespread destruction and immense suffering across the state. Torrential rains, combined with swelling rivers such as the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi, have led to extensive waterlogging, worsened further by dam releases from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. The floods have tragically claimed at least 37 lives so far, and the human and economic impact continues to grow. According to official reports, over 3.5 lakh people have been affected, more than 1,000 villages are submerged, and approximately 61,000 hectares of farmland have been inundated. All 23 districts in Punjab have now been declared flood-affected, marking this disaster as one of the worst since 1988. Relief operations have been underway, with more than 11,000 people evacuated through coordinated efforts by the Indian Army, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the Border Security Force (BSF), and local authorities.
