In May 2020 my son and I were accepted by smartpups to get an assistance dog for my son. An assistance dog for his diabetes is amazing they can smell diabetics sugars dropping before the Continuous Glucose Monitor does. An assistance dogs not only save the diabetics life but they can become the diabetics best friend who they can count on.

Science Fun With Your Child
Children love science because there is so much opportunity to use everyday objects and perform experiments to ease learning. It is a fact that we learn when we do, and rather than reading about it, it is best to have a child experience the learning by doing it themselves. Then, of course, the best part is the “ah-ha” moment you get from them which is undeniably the best feeling for a teacher or a parent.

DIY Christmas Cards kids can make!. Top Story - December 2020.

Snap, Crackle, Ho, Ho, Ho
When it comes to holiday baking, I take the back seat in my family. My mom was the Michelangelo of holiday cookie baking. She and my sister Kay would engage in weekend-long baking marathons in early December, leading to trays and trays of holiday cookies. I remember:

Baking With Ghosts
One can tell the difference in the taste in food that was just thrown together and food that was prepared with love. My Omi was a prime example of the latter, when she cooked for her family. Her gift, however, was honed in service to the Austrian aristocracy. Before she retired and I was born, she mastered her craft as the head cook for the House of Habsburg in the region of Austria that she lived in, Upper Austria - Salzkammergut, which is about an hour east of Salzburg.

Building a fort is often considered an iconic part of childhood. On any occasion, we build a fort for sleepovers or rainy days. The fort is fun to build and is a great way for kids to practice creativity, planning skills, develop organizational skills, and work on their unity skills. If you're looking for a fun activity to do with your kids or they can work with their friends or with one another, building a castle is a great idea!

Is Halloween 2020 Canceled?
Halloween in 2020. Is Halloween Canceled This Year? With all of the recent events in the world; between the pandemic, craziness, and violence that fills our cities and towns, we have to seriously ask this question. That question is, will we even have a Halloween this year? Obviously; the day itself will still roll around, but will October 31st still look like the holiday that many of us so love? Will there be kids trick or treating? Will people leave their houses to buy candy to give out? Can we even trust anything that is given by strangers? I hope so.

Living The Dream
As I sit this morning at my laptop, my children divided between their respective devices (roll on the new school term), with an episode of Ru Paul playing in the background that I've seen at least five times, I find myself looking around my living room with pride.
