Cooking A Valentines Meal For Two
Cooking A Valentines Meal For Two Valentine’s Day has never been about restaurant tables for me. Too much noise, too much rushing, plates arriving before you have finished the last mouthful. I would rather stay home and cook. It feels more honest. If I am going to say I care about someone, I would rather show it in the way I chop onions and stir a sauce slowly, tasting as I go.I start early in the afternoon. Not because it takes hours, but because I like the quiet build up. The kitchen feels different on a day like that. I clear the counters properly, wipe everything down, put music on low. Nothing dramatic. Just something soft in the background.

Growing Our Own Food
Growing Our Own Food I never set out to become someone who grows their own food. It just sort of happened. One spring I bought a small packet of lettuce seeds because they were cheap and I was fed up paying for bags of leaves that went brown in the fridge. I did not expect much from it. I pushed the seeds into an old plastic tray of compost and left it on the windowsill, half thinking nothing would come of it.

The Picky Eater Paradox:
People act like being a picky eater is a moral flaw. I hear it often, usually from people who can eat anything without hesitation. My husband is one of them. He calls me picky with a grin, like it’s harmless, but underneath is the assumption that flexibility equals virtue.

The Top 10 Places to Eat American Fare - And What That Fare Really Is.
America has never been especially good at pretending. Our food didn’t come from royal courts or marble kitchens. It came from hunger, hard labor, long hours, and the simple need to make something filling out of what was available. American fare wasn’t designed to impress anyone. It was designed to work.

My Review of the 2026 Starbucks Winter Menu
In early 2026, Starbucks unveiled new additions to their menu: exclusive matcha blends, a selection of pastries and limited-edition Dubai chocolate drinks. With blends that emphasized matcha, pistachio, chocolate and yuzu citrus, it was pretty clear to me that Starbucks was taking inspiration from trending flavors. In any case, as a matcha lover, I had to try the new offerings--and the pastries seemed like the perfect accompaniment.
