I See a Thrift Store and I Want It All In Black
While preparing for our move at the end of 2020, I did my best to downsize the amount of clothes I had in my possession. There is a Lowe’s SMALL box, filled to the brim, almost--but not quite--ready to have a second one started and waiting to be brought to a thrift store. Oh, I don’t just give to the stores, I’m also a client! During this purge, I had to part with one of my more favorite thrift store finds. Its amazing how much can be attached to a piece of clothing.

The Silent Twins Who Couldn’t Live Apart
One of my friends is expecting her first baby. She is excited and anxious all at the same time. Before the gender reveal we had fun guessing whether she’d have a boy or a girl. We now know it’s a girl, one girl, and she has a name already. How exciting.

Cremated ashes and how to transfer them to an urn
ouAt 11:30 last night, a family friend called me and asked an interesting question. I had told him that my sister in law had ordered an urn for my husband's cremated remains so he wanted to know how I would get the ashes from the box that now holds them into the urn. I had not really thought about it but I told him I supposed I would simply pour them in. His next question was if I were supposed to contact the funeral home to take care of this and I said I had assumed my business with them was concluded once they presented the box of ashes to me.

Green Card Marriage
It's been almost 12 months since I started my Green Card process. Well, actually it's been way longer than that but officially, after collecting all the documents for about 5 months, my husband and I applied in May last year. There are so many appalling things regarding this whole process that it's really hard to know where to start. So let's begin with the fact that you read it right, it was my husband and I applying, not just me. While my husband is American, born and raised in Virginia, I am an immigrant. Once we got married a bit over a year ago I had to apply for a Green Card in order to live with him in the same country. As you might think, how could anyone refuse me living with my husband? Well, the USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) most certainly can. Not only that but for me to stay in the same country as my loved one, he needs to become my 'sponsor' and prove that he can 'afford' me living here.

Wakashio
On the 25th July 2020, the MV Wakashio ran aground the coral reefs in Mauritius at Pointe D’Esny, a rare sanctuary of wildlife. The Japanese ship, which was filled with 4,000 tonnes of oil had an engine breakdown which led them to hit the shore in Mauritius on their way to Brazil. The captain, Sunil Kumar Nandeshwar and its crew managed to get of the ship a few days after the ship got stuck into the lagoon.

COVID-19 came as a surprise to a world unprepared to manage a pandemic deadly enough to kill millions worldwide. It felt like doomsday as prophesized by men of the past. The unanswered question of “where the world was headed” concerned many globally.
