Review: 'Umbrella Corps' — Angry Gamer's Inbound
In the past, Resident Evil is a series that would turn heads if a whisper of an announcement leaked out into the world - that was until Resident Evil 5 came into the scene and drove the series in a downward spiral. In recent years, the downward spiral has gotten worse with titles such as Resident Evil's 5, 6, and Operation Raccoon City. While Operation Raccoon City is a personal favourite, it doesn't mean the title was good or even great, but was still slightly enjoyable as a cooperative game.

Horror Games: Why are We Drawn to Them?
Laying in bed at night isn't as difficult as much as one would think. In my youth I was one that found myself swooned to sleep by the articulated writings of H.P. Lovecraft. On Friday nights when I was six, I would sit on the couch beside my favorite stuffed bunny (whom I have to this day), and watch Sigourney Weaver and Bill Paxton team together to eliminate their xenomorph threat. On Saturdays, I would sit quietly on the floor with my parents, all perked up and watching Hellraiser. My favorite parts of all three? The artistic creativity behind all three of them. The artistic imagination it took to create the things I was seeing visually.

We Can't 'Bear' It: Scott Cawthon's 'Five Night's At Freddy's' Finally Finds A Studio
Lock the doors and boot up the security system, because it looks like a Five Nights at Freddy's film could be knocking at the window. Based on the popular survival #horror #videogame, it was a safe bet that a feature-film or some form of live-action avenue would come crawling out from under the bed.

Survival of the Fittest: 7 Tips to Keep You Alive in Resident Evil 7
The legacy of Resident Evil has always haunted me, I've never been a gamer who enjoyed horror games in the least, but with all the hype surrounding Resident Evil 7: Biohazard I had to give it a shot. Throughout the history of the franchise, Resident Evil has always had it's share of spine-chilling moments and hair-raising experiences, and the latest addition serves as both a fresh twist and a return to the horror roots that made so many fall in love with the original games.

It's All Child's Play: Universal Teases 'Chucky' Video Game Alongside The Next Film
The world of video games is creepy enough as we are chased by the nurses of Silent Hill, T-virus zombies of Resident Evil, and the steampunk Big Daddies from Bioshock. However, is a true horror icon about to get a video game too?

5 Horror Game Clichés I Wish Game Developers Would Stop Using
SPOILER WARNINGS: Silent Hill: Downpour, Silent Hill 2, Outlast 2, Resident Evil 6, The Evil Within, The Evil Within 2 A trope is defined by good ole TVTropes.org as "more about conveying a concept to the audience without needing to spell out all the details." However, the very concept of a trope couldn't have been named without cliché. Clichéd concepts within media, such as video games, have been happening since their inception. Heck, Nintendo makes their billions with one of the most famous cliché characters of all time, but Mario is very much an icon of the culture of gaming.

Horror Games: From Niche to Nonsense
Maybe I've become too desensitized over the years to enjoy modern "horror" games. Lately, I've just felt that such games have either fit into two categories: "cliche horror trope bingo" and/or "trying way too hard." I'd say a perfect example of the first of those categories is the recently released The Evil Within 2. I honestly don't know what is impressing the gaming news giants to give it a high score... though I think IGN would be impressed with a game about paint drying.

'Silent Hill 4': The Forgotten Horror
Hello, and welcome back to Second Chances where I give the maligned and forgotten another shot. As I mentioned before, I consider the original Silent Hill to be one of the greatest horror games of all time. Even though it's nearly twenty years old, its story still knows how to chill you to the bone, its perfect atmosphere keeps you from getting relaxed, and the combat and puzzle solving are both easier to grasp and more involved than in other horror games of the time. Though the PS1 visuals can be a bit hard to look at these days, it is still the closest I've found to the perfect horror game.
