'Before I Wake' Film Review: Why This Is NOT a Horror Film
Before I Wake is a 2016 supernatural drama film that was shelved for years before Netflix picked it up and released it on January 5th, 2018. The film has amazing performances by Kate Bosworth, Thomas Jane, and young actor Jacob Tremblay. It is about a young couple who recently lost their son and decide to adopt a little boy who has a peculiarly fascinating ability to make his dreams come to life—however, that also means his nightmares come to life as well.

The 5 Most Forgotten Scary Movies
Every kid has that scary movie their parents told them they couldn't watch, but snuck into the room and peaked around the corner only to be scarred for the next twenty years of their life. Those movies stick with you, and later, when you're of age, you track them down just to be reminded of how scary they were. It's hard to forget them, but as I get older, I find that most of my friends are like: "What movie? What are you talking about?"

9 Horror Movies Where the Characters Aren't Complete Morons
Look, I'm not sure what I would do if I were faced with a masked killer running around, but I can tell you that more than half the shit some of these people do in horror movies is quite possibly the most ineffective way to handle such a situation.

Top 5 Modern Horror Films
Being an avid horror fan myself, I am acutely aware of how rare it is these days to come across a horror film that actually satisfies my need for terror, shock and gore. Especially in mainstream cinema there seems to be a lot of repetition when it comes to storyline, average acting skills and predictable outcomes. However, there have been a fair few films that have stayed with me long after viewing for all the right reasons. Inventive and creative directing, unusual characters and truly terrifying situations make these 5 films some of the best horror films in recent times.

Memory Lane with the 'Insidious' Franchise
There is something about the 'Insidious' franchise that is ridiculously entertaining even though they can be extreme and over-the-top a lot of the time. However, I can honestly say that I’m guilty of not only seeing all the 'Insidious' films in theaters, but purchasing them as well. For example, I will be seeing Insidious: The Last Key in theaters and, once it’s out on DVD, I will be buying it as well. Now, because the new 'Insidious' has recently been released, I thought I’d go down memory lane when it comes to the franchise. I wanted to start with the beginning, the original, the first 'Insidious' film.

13 Hidden Horror Movie Gems to Help You Survive the Annual January/February Cinematic Dumping Ground
In recent years, the month of January has become synonymous with the widespread dreaded expectation of the major movie studios releasing their cheapest off-cuts, and likeliest critical duds, to die a quick death in the cinematic dumping ground that is the awkward winter period of post-Christmas/early-New Year/start-of-awards-season chaos.

'Insidious: The Last Key'
The first Insidious movie back in 2011 was, to me, at least, one of the scariest films I had seen in quiet some time. What I found interesting enough about that movie was, when I went back to see it a second time, it was an even scarier experience because I saw it in a far better screen with better sound, and I found new things I had missed the first time around. My friends and I left that screening and couldn't sleep that night, it scared us that badly. I know there are silly moments in the film, and sometimes the acting may not the be the greatest in cinema, but director James Wan and his partner in crime, Leigh Whannell, who also wrote and acted in the film, brought together their favorite things about horror films, especially ghosts stories, and gave us one to remember—of course, until James Wan directed the far superior The Conjuring, which is still, by my opinion, one of the finest horror films that has come out in the last decade.
