Leadership in public service often begins long before a title is earned. For The Honorable Gina H. Curry, years of work in education, behavioral health, and community advocacy laid the foundation for a career dedicated to strengthening families and expanding opportunity across Pennsylvania.

Today, Curry serves as State Representative for Pennsylvania’s 164th Legislative District, representing communities including Upper Darby, East Lansdowne, Millbourne, Lansdowne, and part of Drexel Hill in Delaware County.

Her leadership inside the Pennsylvania House continues to focus on issues that directly affect families, education, health, and economic opportunity.

During a national Women’s History Month gathering in Philadelphia, Curry’s work was recognized as she received the Global Civic Impact Award at the Droppin Jewelz Women’s Empowerment Brunch Gala hosted by founder Kendra Hall.

The celebration brought together more than 80 leaders, advocates, and supporters from across the United States aboard the historic Moshulu along the Delaware River.

Supporters traveled from across the country including Arizona, North Carolina, Illinois, Florida, Georgia, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and additional regions nationwide.

The award reflects Curry’s continued work advancing educational equity, maternal health advocacy, and community empowerment across the Commonwealth.

Within the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Curry holds several leadership roles including Co-Chair and Co-Founder of the Pennsylvania Black Maternal Health Caucus, Chair of the Delaware County House Delegation, Vice-Chair of the Southeast Delegation, Chair of the Subcommittee on Basic Education, and Co-Chair of the Pennsylvania Women’s Health Caucus.

She also serves as a Commissioner on the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Women and holds committee assignments on Appropriations, Education, Children and Youth, Transportation, and Communications and Technology.

A major focus of her work has been addressing disparities in maternal health outcomes. Through the Pennsylvania Black Maternal Health Caucus, Curry continues advancing policies designed to improve outcomes for mothers and families across Pennsylvania.

Before entering the legislature, Curry served as Vice President of the Upper Darby School Board after being elected in 2017 and re-elected in 2019.

Her professional experience also includes work as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion consultant and founder of Coach Your Vision LLC, a leadership and empowerment training organization.

Earlier in her career, she worked in behavioral health as a clinical supervisor, behavioral specialist, and therapeutic consultant supporting children and families.

Curry earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in criminal justice with a concentration in sociology from Saint Joseph’s University.

Her commitment to youth empowerment has remained a constant throughout her career. She has mentored young professionals, supported school leadership initiatives, and encouraged civic engagement among young people in her community.

She is also an active member of the Chester Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and previously served on the EU PEAT Prison Education Advisory Board supporting educational opportunities for incarcerated individuals.

Curry lives in the community she represents and continues advocating for equity, opportunity, and justice across Pennsylvania.
