There's been a video going around on Twitter of a nail technician being verbally harassed by a White woman as she was getting her nails done. The video shows the woman stating that the nail tech needed to "learn English." The thing is, though, this is not an uncommon thing that is continuously going on every day.

The Demonization of Self Publishing Needs to Stop
Sometimes I see something on Facebook and it makes me want to throat somebody. Maybe that's not the best way to start an essay, but it's true! So the other day I was scrolling through Facebook and saw a meme that made my blood boil. No, it wasn't one about Trump, though that is a good guess. 'The True Cost': How Fast Fashion Is Affecting Our Youth
The documentary The True Cost is an eye opening documentary which explores the idea of fast fashion, and its varying affects on our environment, on factory workers, and can also be a way to look at how the fashion industry uses adolescents to create a constant need for their products. The film exposes the dark sides of the fashion industry, which are both unsettling and disturbing. Once it is seen what goes on behind the scenes of our clothes, it is unlikely to ever view the fashion industry as the glamorous industry it may have previously been seen as.

Inspiration's Directional Arrow: Setting and Genre
This abandoned barn is located adjacent to the daycare where I work the early morning shift. I discovered it at 8:30 am, while leaving for the day. It was the day after a snowfall, and everything about the scene screamed at me and said, "Write me!"

The Struggles of Working at a Tanning Salon
I worked in a tanning salon for about two years and I loved it. I loved the atmosphere, the knowledge of tanning and tanning products I had gained, and of course- tanning for free and those employee discounts on lotions was pretty amazing. But behind the few perks comes a lot of struggle. Working with the general public is always difficult, but you see a whole new side of people when you work behind the counter at a tanning salon.
