nose kisses and kitchen dances
There are times in all our lives when certain extraordinary people burst through our heavily barricaded doors straight into our hearts and completely change us forever. I am incredibly thankful to say that I’ve had a small handful of those kind of people in my life. And yet, if I’m being completely honest (and I try to be as frequently as possible), the sweet angel who has truly shaped my most important, formative years on this wildly changeable Earth thus far, was my family's dog.

Golden Isles of Georgia. Top Story - January 2022.
Travel and dogs. These two passions of mine don’t always intersect, but when they do, magical memories are formed. Sometimes my two miniature schnauzers, both brazen barkers, are left with a pet and house sitter while we travel to far off destinations. Not only am I uncomfortable with having them on an airplane, but I sometimes believe that Heidi and Ruffles prefer to stay in the security of their own house. Leaving them is hard (for me), and I sometimes think that they are the only reasons I come home from some locations - well, that and my wallet.

An Ode to R2D2
You remember the sequence from The Empire Strikes Back where the gang leaves the snow world? Most of the gang ends up trying to flee from the Empire, but Luke goes off on his own to meet up with a Jedi Master. Except, he doesn't really go alone, does he?

Cat Transporter
It turns out that if you live in Australia and want to purchase a cat from the Country of Russia you can not do so directly. For a variety of reasons, some legitimate, some political, it is impossible to import domestic animals directly into Australia from Russia without a stopover in a different country from which such transactions are allowed. Surprisingly it is possible to send animals, domestic cats at least, directly from the United States to Russia. All of the facts in the above introduction were completely unknown to me until approximately three weeks ago when a good friend of mine asked if I would be willing to help her transfer two kittens from Russia to Australia.

Reflection From Our First Sit
I can’t believe we finished our first sit as traveling pet sitters. In a way, I feel like we just arrived to the house, and on the other hand I feel like we’d been there forever. To say we’ve grown over the last couple months is an understatement, but that’s the best way to communicate the way I feel.
