Emotional Outlets
I'm a man that wears many hats. For a living I do many things from working in the realms of insurance and finance to historical researching and instructing at the college level. Like an acrobat at the circus, it tends to awe a lot of people. Once I describe what I do people always ask the infamous questions......

Struggling With Mental Health
Depression and other mental health issues affect everyone in different ways. This is why it is important to get the right help that is needed. I have had medical and mental health issues for most of my life. I remember the first time dealing with a major breakdown when I was in high school. I had started cutting and my life just felt like it was spinning out of control.

Mental Health Discord Helped Me Recover from Mental Illness. Top Story - June 2018.
I spent the majority of this year looking for support groups for those living with mental health disorders. When I couldn't find a support group that aligned with my needs, I decided to create a mental health discord server where I could meet others with similar issues. I call it The House of Misfits, and use it as a space where those with mental health disorders could vent and support each other during the dark times.

13 Reasons Why (You Shouldn't Kill Yourself)
We've all heard about Netflix's show 13 Reasons Why. There are mixed opinions on it. Some people say it promotes and glorifies teenage suicide, while others say it is shedding light on teenage mental health issues. The Most Common Mental Illnesses
It has been said that one in four people suffer from a mental illness. The majority of those people suffer from either anxiety or depression and, very often, both. They are like those friends who are always together. Previously I talked about the stigma around mental illness. I mentioned that depression and anxiety are the two that have the least amount of stigma. This is not only due to how common they are, but also due to the fact that they are based around normal emotions that get out of hand. Depression and anxiety can ruin people’s lives. It’s not like just feeling depressed or anxious. These illnesses can control a persons life and often the feelings that seem normal are amplified by the illness.

The Empathic Mind
Being an empath is not easy. Especially in today's world where people's emotions run rampant and issues with the world are at an all-time high. Most people get lost in the fray when it comes to being empathic. Many never knowing that they have such an ability. Most of the time it's diagnosed as an illness or an issue when, in truth, it's an ability most can only barely understand. You go through stages of feeling crazy not knowing why you lash out, moments of sadness, fear, and anger, all steaming from this ability. It's a double-edged sword that makes you amazing at understanding others and then in the same breath feeling overwhelmed by what's around you. To the point of feeling like drowning in a sea of emotions.

Weed and Medication
Let me tell you my back story with prescription pills and marijuana. I'll back up and tell you that I have depression, anxiety (BAD), PTSD, and bipolar disorder. That is just the set up to my experience with mixing my actual medication and marijuana. All of my disorders combined makes me paranoid.
