cute summer outfits for women over 40
I have never been one to tell someone how to dress or discourage them from trying new looks, even at age 40, because I love seeing new styles and new outfits. So it was a shock to me to know that people think that you should dress a certain way when you get to a certain age.

Islamic Attire for an Immodest Wallet
Growing up Muslim in a red state post 9/11 wasn’t easy. In fact, I’d say it was somewhat challenging. Aside from the fact that every Muslim was somehow Osama Bin Laden’s cousin and apart of ISIS, I became viscerally aware at a young age that the fashion choices sucked. A standard summer collection comprised of capris, tank tops, miniskirts, crop tops, flare jeans, and backless sundresses. Islamically, a woman has to cover everything but her face, hands, and feet, so only the flare jeans were a go. Did I mention I hate flared jeans? A typical Muslim fashion hack would be to pair the offending piece with a long-sleeved undershirt, or in the case of those uneven dresses that became popular in 2010, leggings.

IPSY and Me
When I was a kid, my mother worked at the corporate offices of a well-known drug store. Her office building had a company store where employees could purchase overstock merchandise at a discount. Occasionally, she would come home with a shoebox overflowing with various eye shadows and liners, mascaras, lipsticks, and nail polishes for my younger sister and me to experiment with. Those times felt like Christmas for the two of us because, as a single parent, our mom couldn't usually afford such a luxury. Even more impactful, with the act of her bringing makeup home for us, we felt like she was honoring our development from little girls into young women.

How social media can influence you
Within the last year purchasing online has exploded due to the pandemic all over the world. It is easy to be influence by what you see and to go into a black hole where you spend too much on things that you don't need. However, it can also be a great thing if you do it correctly.

Instagram Ads Are Taking Over My Life; and Wardrobe.
What do the retired gentlemen in my Floridian neighbourhood and I, a 24 year old Irish Jane Doe have in common? Our wardrobes. (Also back pain, but let's not get into that). Leaving home each morning, I’m dressed and ready to attend any number of events at the drop of a vintage baseball hat; spontaneous barbecue, boat trip (thank you Crocs), Hawaiian vacation photoshoot, you get the idea. There is nothing I like more in my wardrobe than a good shirt; color, pattern, material, shape. Instagram knows this, and douses my feed with ads for an endless variety of colourful shirts as generously as the guy adding oil to salad in that meme.

I Feel Rich: A Curateur Subscription Review
Rachel Zoe is my stylist. No, really! I’m not wealthy or famous and I don’t live in L.A., but every three months I get a box of personally picked items from Curateur (formerly Box of Style), Rachel Zoe’s personal curation service for subscribers.
