The Thrill of New Beginnings and the Satisfaction of Completion
Despite reflecting on whether I prefer to make a fresh start or to finish up with something that has taken so much of my effort, I realize it is hard to decide because each can be intense in its own way. Each of them has its own share of energy, fulfillment, and emotions. Nevertheless, if I had to choose between the options, I would slightly favor the aspect of beginning a new thing for the excitement of it.

20,000+ Reads and Counting - Reflections
“Always celebrate your wins. Big or small.” – Leigh Shulman So, I am not even sure what to say. I had been aware it was getting close…like four months ago…so then the heat died down on the potential excitement. I knocked past 20,000 reads recently and Vocal may just be one little hovel, little hole the internet to which we can't help but fall in, but I am proud and pleased as punch. That is from March 2021 when I first joined up until today when I published this.

A real town called Raymond
Quite a few people, having read my flash fiction story, "A Town called Raymond" have asked me whether there really is a town in California called Raymond and yes, there really is. I have mentioned in some of my articles that I like to use fact to give my fictional stories an authentic feel. Whether it is historical or scientific fact, or snippets from my own knowledge, experience or life story, truth can often enhance fiction, if you know how to use it.

THE LOW DOWN I'm sure if you've been on Vocal in the last 24 hours you've become aware of the new "exclusive stories" feature that the Vocal team has launched on the site. It's something the community has been asking for for years: an update on the "pledges" feature that had little to no value for readers, nor the writers besides a very kind and generous monthly tip.
