Power and blood purity were more important to Marvolo than his children and his son was more important to him than his daughter. Marvolo’s daughter was neglected and probably felt alone, so she started to fancy a muggle who lived in the town, a handsome rich man named Tom Riddle.

They caught her and commanded her to do it again, but when she couldn’t, because magic doesn’t work that way for a six or seven-year-old, they laughed at her and called her names which scarred her for life. Her father ran after the boys who made his only daughter feel sad and killed them which he was sent to Azkaban for but no one knew why he killed them.

Ellen and her son went to live in the muggle world while Dolores and Orford went to live among the wizarding communities. She was embarrassed by her father because of his lack of ambition for a new job.
