Vinland Saga Power Rankings
Every major character ranked from weakest to strongest, based only on on-screen power

The world of Vinland Saga isn’t about flashy powers or supernatural abilities — it’s about brutal warfare, hardened warriors, and the relentless pursuit of survival in a Viking age ruled by strength. Battles are decided by skill, experience, tactics, and sheer willpower. Some fighters dominate through raw physical might, while others rely on speed, precision, or calculated strategy — but only a few stand above the rest as true monsters on the battlefield.
This list ranks the major characters from weakest to strongest based solely on what we’ve seen in the anime. No manga feats. No mythology exaggerations. Just combat skill, physical capability, battlefield impact, and who would realistically walk away when steel meets steel.
7. Bjorn

The man was a berserker in every sense of the word — fueled by mushrooms and unshakable loyalty to Askeladd. Bjorn could tear through soldiers with brute strength, but his lack of finesse and reliance on berserker rage kept him from breaking into the top tier. Still, if he’s charging at you foaming at the mouth — run.
6. Thorgil

A relative newcomer, but an absolute menace. Thorgil is fast, savage, and fully committed to the warrior life. His speed and aggression give him the edge over most soldiers, and he shows no hesitation in cutting through crowds. He’s raw, but deadly.
5. Snake

Calm, precise, and dangerous. Snake may not have the size or brute force of others on this list, but he’s lightning-fast and technically sound. His duel with Thorfinn proved he can read moves quickly and punish overcommitment. If you’re not on your A-game, Snake ends the fight in a blink.
4. Thorfinn

By Season 2, Thorfinn becomes something different — not just a warrior, but a refined weapon. His agility, technique, and adaptability are nearly unmatched. He can’t brute-force his way through like Thorkell, but if it comes down to reaction speed, pure willpower, and footwork? He’s top tier.
3. Askeladd

A genius tactician with a blade to match. Askeladd isn’t the strongest physically, but his precision, timing, and ruthlessness put him above almost everyone else. He beat Thorfinn over and over, commanded armies with intellect, and even managed to outwit King Sweyn at the cost of his own life. Every move is calculated. Every strike intentional.
2. Thorkell

The walking natural disaster. Thorkell is pure Viking power — able to toss logs like javelins and punch men into the sky. His speed for a man his size is absurd, and he lives for the thrill of a fair fight. The only thing holding him back is his tendency to drag out battles just for fun. But if he went for the kill immediately? Most people wouldn’t stand a chance.
1. Thors

The legend, the ghost, the man who made warriors put down their weapons without lifting his own. Thors was beyond anyone else in the series — a man who beat Askeladd’s entire crew while trying not to kill anyone. His strength, speed, and control were unmatched, and his philosophy of not needing a sword only made him more terrifying. He was the peak — and everyone else knew it.
